Immunizations
help protect against a number of serious diseases, and 11-12
year olds should receive these vaccines:
Tdap: this vaccine
protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping
cough)

Meningococcal:
this vaccine protects against meningococcal meningitis, a
bacterial infection which can cause brain damage, arm and leg
amputations, kidney damage and death.

HPV
(Human Papilloma Virus): this vaccine for girls and
boys protects against genital warts and cancer, including
cervical cancer, later in life)
Influenza:
this vaccine, of course, protects against the flu. Everyone 6
months and older should get every year.
Chickenpox
(varicella): this vaccine protects against
chickenpox, which can be more than just an itchy rash; it can
cause pneumonia or serious skin infections.
