
CELEBRATE THE IMPORTANCE OF IMMUNIZATION:
- National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) April 24-May 1, 2010
- Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA) April 24-May 1, 2010
- Toddler Immunization Month (TIM) May, 2010
National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) and Toddler Immunization Month (TIM) have been celebrated annually since 1993. They highlight the need to fully immunize children age 2 and younger against more than 14 vaccine-preventable diseases.
Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA), being celebrated at the same time as NIIW, is also an annual observance to promote the importance of immunization that will mark its 7th anniversary this year.
Parent Forum To Promote, Educate About Childhood Immunization:
On Tuesday, April 27, 2010, a coalition of local health professionals and community partners will present:
“Everything you wanted to know about the safety of Childhood Vaccines but were afraid to ask!”
This event, being held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the County’s South Bay Regional Health Center (690 Oxford St., Chula Vista) will feature two noted experts in the fields of pediatric infectious disease and autism research.
- Mark Sawyer, MD, Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and a pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at the UCSD School of Medicine and the Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
- Eric Courchesne, Ph.D., Professor of Neurosciences and Director of the UCSD Autism Center of Excellence.
These experts will make presentations about childhood vaccine safety and also answer questions from those attending.
