The San Diego Black Nurses Association, in partnership with the San Diego County Immunization Coalition and AARP San Diego Metro Chapter, 4916 conducted a Community Flu Shot Clinic and Media Kick off event on Friday, September 24th. The clinic was held at the Martin Luther King Community Center on Skyline Drive. Radio Latina was instrumental in helping to promote the event, which attracted local and regional media outlets such as Fox 5, CW 6, NBC 7/39, KFMB Ch. 8, KUSI, Univision, Telemundo, Union-Tribune, KPBS, El Latino, and Enlace. Dr. Wooten conducted phone interviews with KOGO News and KNX Radio.
The Coalition and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency sponsored a press conference at the event. Speakers included Ron Roberts, Fourth District County Supervisor; Dr. Wilma J. Wooten, County Public Health Officer; Syvera Hardy from the San Diego Black Nurses Association and Dr. Mark Sawyer, Medical Director of the San Diego Immunization Partnership and a member of the San Diego County Immunization Coalition.
