Who needs a flu shot this year? Every BODY!
For the 2011-2012 flu season, ACIP continues to recommend all persons 6 months of age and older receive a flu vaccine to protect themselves from getting the flu and to prevent the transmission of flu to others.
Vaccine supply is expected to be plentiful.
Although everybody is eligible for a flu shot this season, there are still some groups at higher risk of complications from influenza or at greater risk or exposing vulnerable people to influenza. As a provider, you should put extra emphasis on getting the following persons immunized:
- Pregnant women
- Household contacts of children under 5 years & adults over 50 years
- Persons with chronic medical conditions
- Healthcare workers - that means you!
