November 2008 SDIR Award of Excellence presented to Pamela Atienza, MD and Fernandid Barbadillo, MD

Drs. Fernandid Barbadillo and Pamela Atienza are Board Certified Pediatricians who have been in practice for over seventeen years. The mission of their practice is “To provide comprehensive, optimal, and child-friendly medical care to all their patients from birth to young adulthood.

They began using SDIR in their new office in the Eastlake neighborhood of Chula Vista., They report that with the help of SDIR Registry Liaison Maria Luz Alvarez, that staff training was “a breeze.” Liz Covarrubias, MA, learned how to use the program within a few hours. Drs. Barbadillo and Atienza are happy with the use of SDIR because they see how its use benefits their practice. They are able to find immunization records for new patients whose parents have lost or misplaced the records; likewise, providing parents with a duplicate copy of their child’s immunization record is just a few clicks away! The doctors like the inventory management reports like Vaccine Inventory and Vaccine Usage that the SDIR produces which makes ordering Vaccines for Children (VFC) vaccines much less time consuming. They also appreciate having the VFC Provider Report run out of the registry to use for annual recertification. Our office already have a recall system in their practice management software, however they find that the SDIR patient reminder/recall function is very helpful as a back up.
